FAQ
How should I hang my stained glass piece?
Each Wier Art Glass Studio hanging piece will come with a hanging method best suited to the type and weight of the piece. We do not use fishing line in windows for hanging stained glass as UV rays damage and deteriorate it over time, causing the glass to eventually become damaged.
Smaller pieces or ornaments can be suspended from the ceiling from a small hook, hung from a piece of hardware affixed to a window pane, or hung on a tree. There are some really good suction cup hangers out there, but we recommend that they not be used because with weather and temperature changes, they may eventually fail, resulting in broken artwork. Larger pieces should always be hung from a hook or other hardware which is securely screwed into wood or the wall - not sheet rock.
Ensure safe hanging with proper weight limits for glass artwork. Wier Art Glass Studio is not responsible for any damage caused by incorrect installation or hanging of glasswork. (However we will work with you to repair your item - see the damage claim section below.)
How do I keep my stained glass clean?
Over time, the look of lead came can become a dark gunmetal grey, especially if hung in an area with a lot of humidity like a bathroom or kitchen; this is simply how lead came naturally ages. Listings made with lead came (see Our Process page) are mudded and burnished to a lovely shine before leaving the studio, and listings made using the foil method are polished and waxed.
We encourage dusting your piece occasionally with a soft, clean cloth. A Q-Tip or soft brush can be used to sweep dust from tight corners. It is not recommended that any household cleaners be used, especially vinegar based cleaners. Be extra careful when cleaning pieces with paint on them - the paint we use (Pebeo Vitrea 160) is baked on for a permanent finish, however a sharp object like a razor blade or exacto-knife could chip the paint or even damage the glass behind it.
What if my piece arrives damaged?
You must let us know within 48 hours of receipt of your item if the item is damaged in shipping. If you chose to purchase shipping insurance for the full price (we do recommend that you do this on any items over $30), we can help you with what you need to do to get a refund from the shipper. If the piece arrives damaged or gets damaged later, don't throw it away! Let us work with you on repairing the item - we will do our utmost to make that process affordable for you.
What if I want to return my purchase?
Custom Orders made by commission are non-returnable. Undamaged non-custom Items may be returned for refund minus shipment costs. Claims of defect or damage before shipment should be addressed within 48 hours of receipt of package. All items are packaged to the best of our ability and the artist cannot be liable for damage incurred during shipment. We strongly suggest the addition of Shipment Insurance to any item in value over $30.
Wier Art Glass is not liable for damages due to improper installation of glass art.
